Privacy Policy
Tic-Tacular · Effective October 22, 2026
The short version: Tic-Tacular does not collect any personal data. There are no accounts, no analytics, no ads, and no tracking. The developer runs no servers and never receives information about you or how you play.
This policy covers the Tic-Tacular app for iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, Apple TV and Apple Vision Pro, including its widgets and its iMessage app (together, “the app”). It is made by Benjamin Berard (“I”, “me”).
What the app does not do
- It does not collect, sell, or share personal information.
- It contains no analytics, advertising, crash-reporting, or tracking software, and it does not use the advertising identifier.
- It does not track you across other companies’ apps or websites.
- It does not ask for your location, contacts, photos, camera, or microphone.
- It does not use cookies. This website does not use cookies, scripts, or trackers either.
What stays on your device
Your settings (such as theme, sounds, and difficulty), your stats and achievements, games in progress, and the widget’s game are saved on your device. The app and its widgets share them through an App Group on the same device. Your Apple Watch and iPhone exchange your themes and finished Watch games directly with each other. None of this is sent to me.
Services provided by Apple
Some features use Apple services. When you use them, Apple handles the data under Apple’s Privacy Policy, not me, and I have no access to it.
- iCloud. If you are signed in to iCloud, your stats, achievements, and theme choices sync between your devices using iCloud’s key-value storage in your own iCloud account.
- Game Center. Online play, the leaderboard, and achievements use Game Center if you choose to sign in. Your Game Center nickname is visible to opponents and on the leaderboard, as Game Center describes. The app works fully if you decline Game Center.
- SharePlay and FaceTime. Playing together over FaceTime sends moves between the people on the call through SharePlay. If you have typed a name for Nearby play, the other person on the call sees it too; if not, no name is sent.
- Messages. In the iMessage app, each game is carried inside the message bubble you choose to send, like any other message.
- App Store purchases. Tic-Tacular Pro and tips are bought through the App Store. Apple processes the payment; I never see your payment details or your identity.
Nearby play
Nearby play connects to devices in the same room over Wi‑Fi or Bluetooth, without the internet. To do this the app asks for Local Network permission. Other people nearby who open Nearby in Tic-Tacular can see the name you type for Nearby play (or “Player” if you leave it blank), similar to an AirDrop name. Moves go directly between the two devices.
How long data is kept, and how to delete it
I keep nothing: the app has no server of its own, so there is nothing about you for me to store or delete. What the app saves stays until you remove it:
- Statistics. Settings › Reset Statistics clears your wins, losses, draws and streaks for every mode, on this device and, through iCloud, on your other devices.
- Everything else on a device (your settings, achievement progress, games in progress, the widget’s game and the name you typed for Nearby play) is deleted when you delete the app from that device.
- iCloud. Stats, achievement progress and theme choices synced through iCloud stay in your own iCloud account, readable only by Tic-Tacular on your devices. Reset Statistics clears the stats there too. To stop syncing, turn off iCloud for Tic-Tacular in your device’s iCloud settings.
- Apple services. Your Game Center profile, achievements, leaderboard scores and online games, your purchase history, and messages you’ve sent are kept by Apple under its own policy. You can manage them in Settings (Game Center and your Apple Account), in Messages, or at privacy.apple.com. Finished online games can be removed from the app’s list by swiping left on them.
Children’s privacy
Tic-Tacular is rated 4+. Because it collects no personal information from anyone, it collects none from children. Purchases are subject to the parental controls of Apple’s Family Sharing and Screen Time.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new effective date. If the app ever starts collecting data, this policy will be updated before that happens.
